Breaking Onion!?
If you scramble my full name, Brianne Gookin, then chop it up, and scramble it again, it becomes the anagram of a culinary method used to intensify the flavor of an onion, or in my case, art. And since I was a Navy cook, I thought it was appropriate. I love flavor and intensity to make art stand out, and be fun. I work on various styles but my favorite and most successful, are my pet portraits. The best feeling in the world is knowing my client is happy and I got to spend time with their fur-family through every brushstroke.

How to Order a Pet Portrait
E-Mail Me!
Start by contacting me at breakingonion@gmail.com so the paper trail can begin as well as open communications. We'll talk timeline, pricing, delivery, what you get from me during the process, and what I need from you before I begin. In the e-mail, I'll need the following:
Send Me High Quality Photos of Your Pet
The higher the resolution the more details I can pick out to make sure your pet looks like how you cherish them the most. You've memorized their spots, the tuft of fur on their ears, how one eye is more green than the other. The more you can give me, the better I can paint.
Pick A Color
The background is what I call the "pop" color that is also incorporated into the portrait itself. Knowing who your pet is also helps me decide if you're unsure. Or if you need the color to complement a specific room in your house, I can help with that.
Tell Me About Your Pet
It helps me to know who I'm painting! And I love hearing stories and I know you love sharing them, so tell me about their personality, and what they like to do.
About Payment
Cash upon delivery or money up front via Venmo @Brie-Gookin (dizzy onion logo) paid for under "friends and family." I also take checks but I won't start painting until the check clears.
What's Requested Before Painting Is Final
Make sure you covered everything you need because once I start, I can't add anything major like another animal or their favorite toy, or their collar. I'm excellent at communicating the journey with you, and post the art process online as I go (unless it's a gift, then it's sent private), but for an artist of any medium any major change is a setback, and composition would be upended. This is why comms are clear up front so everyone's happy. :)

ALL of them. I adore animals and it doesn't matter what type of animal. I love spiders, too. No pet is excluded!
If you're in the Cd'A area, I will drop it off at your house, or if you're uncomfortable with that, we can meet somewhere in public like a coffee shop! This saves money on shipping and protects the painting better. If you want it delivered somewhere, I carefully package it and use UPS to ship, but it costs extra.
That is very kind of you to ask, unfortunately due to several reasons that are boring, I am not painting humans for commission. I appreciate your trust in my skills and just by asking makes my day.
YES! It will not be the original but I have prints available for purchase. Contact me which one you want, and I'll make it happen.
